Self indulgence anyone?

Hamza says… I don’t know what to say anymore!!???!

Seriously!

To start with, Noor and I had a serious argument about how one should run a Blog.

I was being the usual idealist I am, saying that my blog has to be about worthwhile stuff and not just the random happenings of my everyday life. Ali Noor, while not rejecting my idea, suggested that I go and read different blogs on the net. I had done that way before Noor had even considered starting a blog, and knew that, apart from some serious writers, most of the people usually write blogs for sharing self indulgences – read, lack of discipline and lack of purpose… and all that crap!

On reaching the verge of serious conflict, I decided that I am not going to publish any blog until I have thought it through in my head. Meanwhile Ali Noor went on and launched his blog himself, without me launching mine alongside (which was the initial plan).

So don’t think ‘ke chota bhai baray ki copy kar raha hai! :P ’. As always, I am taking advantage of his mistakes and being the smarter one in following suit ;)

But then, guess what?

I did think it through. And I did get many ideas in my head. For starters I started posting news items which I read, onto my Facebook profile. In fact I went crazy with the posting to the extent that my friends and cousins started looking at me with doubt that ‘what the hell is this guy up to??’

But my intentions were honest … I do believe … and I honestly think that, in these times, a lot needs to be said, responsibly and purposefully …

With that intention I started writing my first piece for the blog … and yesterday when I finished, I realized I had written a 4000 word long pamphlet!!!

Who the hell would read that?? Even I got tired (if not bored) halfway into it.

I have usually been very comfortable with my writing and I felt that this too would be a piece of cake … little did I know that I will have to spend three sleepless nights in my attempt to be purposeful. And by the end of it I wrote something that only some my close friends would read, and that too as a consolation for my effort!

Not that I am bad writer (I am quite vain by the way), but today, as I write this first blog entry, I am humbled with the realization that there is a long long way to go. Secondly, I submit that Noor was right … in fact I love the freedom these blogs give – I can write without feeling accountable towards a third person.

I will be writing the purposeful stuff as well. In fact I will write much more of that than random ramblings, but why limit myself??

This is an open space… so let’s breathe freely!!

Muahs and Coochies,

Hamza

It’s nice to see you entering the blog world with a serious cause ! ( my god what would i do ….:@…..this guy is going to put up really serious ,scientific….etc stuff…..! )
I don’t know if would be able to make a comment on your very intensely serious stuff but i’ll definitely read all of that and would try to understand and gain something out of it, and will not let your efforts go worthless…and hopefully ‘ ll turn into a more responsible and purposeful person like you :)
i liked the way you wrote your name hamza….!
Hamza have you ever noticed the position of “hamza” , when we write Urdu….all the other huruf join together and loose their original form to make a sensible lufz or word but hamza is always on top of them without touching nor loosing its form it becomes a part and plays its vital role in producing the sound and meaning of the word !
i would say naam ka kafi sar hai ap per….!:)
    Best wishes

well congratulations on finally thinking it through and starting ur own blog! Reading ur entry I was struck by the thought that it’s amazing how evryone’s writing style is so unique. Everybody expresses thier thoughts differently and conciously or unconciously thier writing portray a part of thier personality. The same way both urs and ali noor’s writing style is quite different and unique.
this migt not be a very new discovery but I’m wowed by it!
my comment is getting too long and is toatally irrelevant.
    sorry!
    adios and best of luck!

  11. Ahmed Hasan Says:

hey hamza really nice initiative…. its pretty gud that u guys have started with ur personal blog which would be such an appropriate medium to express yourself beyond ur identities solely as musicians. Anyways That 4000 pamphlet which u wrote might be worthwhile read.

On this regard, i think i would also agree to Noor..
For me, Blog is one place where I could say or share any idea but then again, one slight difference is ‘No Reflecting Back’
But then again, Comments section could be utilized here.

I find your blog highly fascinating! I found out about Ali Noor’s blog just yesterday, and sat and read stories about Daadi Maa for ages. Addicted to Noori’s latest video, I stumbled across a link to your blog. It somehow reminded me of how I felt when I first blogged, and took me back a good 3 years.

Going back to my blog now, I think I’ve had some great things to put on there, and more recently, just more of my creative work. My blog surely has brought me far in life in terms of my writing and communication skills. I think blogging is an amazing way to get your thoughts out, and I totally think you’ve started off pretty well! There are no limitations to what you can write, so enjoy it as much as you can!:)

    Good luck and happy writing:).

P.S. absolutely loved the video..took me back a good ten yrs to see Nadia, Fatima and noori looking young and geeky!!:)

  15. rafey Says:

    haha, loving the tags!
dude i missed that show you did in Ottawa, Canada a while back, where ali noor was absent. looking at the youtube vids, i regret not being there. any chance of another solo gig happening any time soon, preferrably in canada? heh, anywho, keep doin what you do, and happy blogging!

p.s. ‘do dil’ is helping me through a bad creative block. thanks :)

Been a fan since you guys played at National sailing centre… i guess that was in 2003…so much so i bought the suno ke mein houn jawan tape…brought it back to dubai got my friends hooked on it and all that jazz =)
But unfortunately the craze faded and, well, so did the noori band members… =/
And then you guys were back with the next album with a few really good songs, but i just have to say that i hope you guys do get an album out that is as superb and original as the first one we fell in love with =)
Oh and kudos to you humza, for all the lovely, meaningful lyrics you’ve written for each song.

PS: Have a few performances in dubai, please?
